Tainted Encounters

My purpose in life has always been to look after the people around me. My friends, my family, and my patients in the emergency room. Taking care of people is my calling; it’s what fulfills me. I’ve never needed anything more. 

At least that was what I thought until I first saw that pair of captivating green eyes, and my world tilted on its axis. Hunter Gambino, a dangerous man whose name precedes him. We met by chance, but I can’t seem to escape his orbit. 

No matter how many times we cross paths, no matter how many times I push back, the outcome is inevitable. 

But we are opposites. 

Opposites may attract, but they don’t belong together. I know that, yet all I want is him. I want him to consume me—and I’ve never said that about anyone else before. 

The man oozes confidence. He’s perfect, but perfect doesn’t fit into my life. I can’t afford distractions. I needed to focus on myself, my job, and on my life in New York City. Still, he doesn’t give up. He’s relentless in his pursuit, and I’m powerless to resist. 

Encounters, that’s really all we had, and each one was tainted.
